12/2/2008 Justin Peters, G, Car The Hurricanes recalled Peters from their AHL affiliate in Albany, N.Y. The 22-year-old was Carolina's second-round selection in the 2004 entry draft. He is 3-7-2 with a 2.79 goals-against average with Albany this season.

Analysis: Peters joins the team in place of Cam Ward, who went down with a groin injury. To clear roster room for Peters, Carolina placed defenseman Tim Gleason on injured reserve.
12/2/2008 Sean Avery, LW, Dal NHL commissioner Gary Bettman suspended Avery indefinitely Wednesday for comments about Calgary defenseman Dion Phaneuf, who is dating his ex-girlfriend - actress Elisha Cuthbert. "I'm really happy to be in Calgary. I love Canada. I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my (former girlfriends)." However, Avery used a crude term to refer to ex-girlfriends now dating other people.

Analysis: He also dated model and actress Rachel Hunter, the girlfriend of L.A. Kings center Jarrett Stoll. Dallas signed Avery to a four-year, $15.5 million deal in July, his third stop in as many years. The move hasn't paid many divedends as the Stars head into Tuesday's game with the Flames with the fewest points in the Western Conference (20). Avery has three goals and seven assists in 23 games.
12/2/2008 Brent Burns, D, Min Burns had a goal and an assist Monday ina 6-5 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

Analysis: Burns' goal was his first since Oct. 30 against Montreal, and he had three assists in the previous nine games.
12/2/2008 Pierre-Marc Bouchard, LW, Min Bouchard had a season-high three points in Monday's 6-5 loss to Colorado with two goals and an assist.

Analysis: Bouchard has five points in his last two games, with a goal and an assist Saturday in Nashville. Bouchard started the season with points in three straight games, but had a goal and an assist over the next 15.
12/2/2008 Mikko Koivu, C, Min After getting a goal and two assists Monday against Colorado, Koivu has three points in consecutive games.

Analysis: Koivu is also on a five-game points streak in which he has four goals and five assists. Koivu leads the Wild with nine goals and 27 points.
12/2/2008 Josh Harding, G, Min Harding relieved Niklas Backstrom in the third period of Monday's 6-5 loss to Colorado. He stopped all five shots he faced.

Analysis: It was the fourth apperance for Harding. He is 1-1-0 with a 1.69 goals-against average this season.
12/2/2008 Niklas Backstrom, G, Min Backstrom was pulled from a game for the first time this season sfter giving up a career-high six goals in the first two periods Monday in a 6-5 loss to Colorado.

Analysis: After starting the season 11-3-1 with a 1.92 goals-against average, Backstrom has slipped a bit. The Wild goalie has gone 2-4-0 with a 3.57 GAA since.
12/2/2008 Vesa Toskala, G, Tor Toskala stopped 32 shots in the Leafs' 3-1 win over Los Angeles on Monday night.

Analysis: Toskala may finally be finding some consistency after a rocky start. His last three appearances have produced a 2-0-1 record and a 1.30 GAA.
12/2/2008 Marian Hossa, RW, Det Hossa's goal early in the third period gave Detroit a 2-1 win over Anaheim on Monday night.

Analysis: It was Hossa's 14th goal and the second straight Red Wings' win in which he broke a third period tie. Hossa entered play Tuesday night third in the league in goals behind Thomas Vanek and Jeff Carter.
12/2/2008 Cory Schneider, G, Van Schneider made 15 saves on Monday night after replacing Curtis Sanford in the Canucks' 3-2 loss to Columbus.

Analysis: Schneider is 0-2-0 with a 3.66 goals-against average this season.
12/2/2008 Steve Mason, G, Cls Mason stopped 30 of 32 shots on Monday in a 3-2 win over Vancouver.

Analysis: Mason is 3-1-0 with a 1.26 GAA in his last four starts.
12/2/2008 Kristian Huselius, LW, Cls Huselius had an assist and scored the game-winning goal on Monday in a 3-2 victory over Vancouver.

Analysis: Huselius has 24 career game-winning goals. His last game winner was against the Canucks on April 5.

Analysis: Nash's second assist set up Kristian Huselius' game-winning goal with 4:44 remaining.

Analysis: This was the third-year defenseman's first career multi-point game.
12/2/2008 Pekka Rinne, G, Nsh Rinne made 30 saves for his first career shutout and Nashville beat Buffalo 2-0 Monday night.

Analysis: The 26-year-old Rinne was making just his ninth overall career appearance, but second start in the last three games. Rinne didn't have to make any spectacular saves, but he made two key stops during the final 1:50.
12/2/2008 Peter Budaj, G, Col Despite allowing the most goals in the past 11 games, Budaj got the win in a 6-5 victory Monday over Minnesota. His 12 saves were the fewest in a start this season.

Analysis: Budaj has won two of his past three starts and improved to 9-11-0 with Monday's win.
12/2/2008 Paul Stastny, C, Col Stastny had his first two-goal game of the season and a season-high three points in Colorado's 6-5 victory over Minnesota on Monday. Stastny scored twice in the second period and assisted on Milan Hejduk's goal.

Analysis: Stastny had gone without a point in the past four games, and he had one goal and three assists in the 12 previous games before Monday's win. Stastny leads the Avalanche with 20 points.
12/2/2008 Ian Laperriere, RW, Col Laperriere had a season-high two assists in Monday's 6-5 win over Minnesota. He has three two-point performances this season, and his last game with two or more assists came Jan. 20, 2008, against Columbus.

Analysis: After getting one goal and two assists in his first 19 games, Laperriere has two goals and four assists in the past six games.
12/2/2008 Milan Hejduk, RW, Col Hejduk had a season-high three poitns - a goal and two assists - in Monday's 6-5 victory over Minnesota.

Analysis: His previous three-point game came March 26, 2008, against Vancouver. Before Monday's game, Hejduk had a goal and an assist in the 11 previous games. He leads the Avalanche with 10 goals and is second with 18 points.
12/2/2008 Curtis Sanford, G, Van Sanford left the Canucks' 3-2 loss at Columbus on Monday with back spasms.

Analysis: Sanford stopped all 11 first-period shots before giving way to rookie Cory Schneider, who finished with 13 saves. Sanford didn't receive a decision in the defeat, but is 3-2-0 with a 2.50 goals-against average in seven games this season. It's unclear which goaltender will be in net Thursday at Detroit.
